Biography

I was educated at The Furniture College - Letterfrack, Dublin Institute of Technology and The Dublin Institute of Design. I have worked in various sectors within the industry including bespoke, office, school, bar/restaurant, ecclesiastical and general carpentry & joinery. Training was supplemented over the years through various work in Italy, Germany and the UK.

While making craft items of furniture from my modest home workshop I have also developed courses in furniture design and manufacture which I teach at the Omagh Campus of South West College.

Woodworking is my life. I have actively sought to develop my craft by working within various sectors of the furniture industry in Ireland, the UK, Germany and Italy. This experience has allowed me to combine the traditional skills & craftsmanship associated with the fine furniture maker with state of the art, modern design & manufacturing methods.

Making skills are, however, only one side of the furniture designer maker. I am also the artisan seeking to design beautiful functional pieces of art. Design influence can come from any source but I try to emulate the honest approach found in the arts & crafts movement while aiming to make the design uniquely Irish.
